Thank you! mn Deer Hunters Assn. Quad Rivers Chapter Quad Rivers remains busy The Quad Rivers chapter of the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association (MDHA) has remained busy of the last year. The Forkhorns participated in the bi-annual ditch clean up in May and October. Not only does their effort help to keep Highway 73 clean near Kettle River, it also earns each participating Forkhorn the opportunity to win a gun at the following annual meeting. Not to mention a pizza party after walking the ditches. Speaking of Forkhorns, Quad Rivers sponsored five of our chapter youth to go to summer Forkhorn camps around Minnesota. It is a great way to earn their firearm safety certificate. They are invited to return for a second or third year to expand their hunting skills and knowledge. As you may have noticed last November, Quad Rivers expanded their Hides-For-Habitat collection efforts. The Moose Lake School Industrial Arts built the hide boxes with materials supplied by Lampert Lumber of Moose Lake. Our volunteers collected double the number of hides as the previous year. Not always on the receiving end of donations, Quad Rivers donated to our local schools. Each of the four local schools received $500. The Barnum and Willow River donations were earmarked for their outdoor programs. At Moose Lake, the donation was directed to the Industrial Arts for their hard work creating our Hides-For-Habitat boxes. Finally, the last $500 check was given to the East Central trap shooting program. Since the opening weekend of deer season was delayed a week last November, Quad Rivers jumped at the chance to have another night of fun. A Table of Guns raffle was held at the Squirrel Cage Bar in Willow River. It was well attended and 10 guns were raffled off to lucky winners. Looking ahead, Quad Rivers will be hosting our 28th Annual Banquet on May 3. It will be held in Askov at the Community Center again this year. There will be 28 guns to be won in addition to numerous other valuable prizes. New this year, a more dedicated raffle table for all the ladies in attendance. Come for a night of food, fun, games and raffles. Finally, as with all volunteer organizations, none of this can be completed without our board members, chapter members and volunteers. We will be having our annual meeting sometime in May. This is the meet- ing where club officers are elected. Come help keep Quad Rivers going strong, you may even find a prize or two given away. Look to our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/quadrivermdha) for updates on time and location. Inspiring a lifelong celebration of learning!
