I AM HUMBLED BY THE STRONG support in the recent primary election and will continue to introduce myself and ask people what is on their minds. I ask each voter in District 5 to support me. As County Commissioner I will seek public input before making decisions. The farm-based, small-town American economy I grew up in has given way to one that requires many of us to commute to Cloquet, Duluth and farther to work. Good jobs at the Moose Lake Correctional facility and the MSOP rely on scores of people using the Highway 73 corridor. My work on the Highway 73 Action Committee to upgrade and increase the safety of this 8-mile section of road south of Cromwell will benefit all of us. Excellent broadband service enables people to work from home and connect with the larger world. I received great VOTE Dan Reed Carlton County Fifth District Commissioner personal satisfaction from my work on an initiative to provide Starlink coverage to the townships of Automba and Lakeview. I would like to develop a similar initiative to provide all Carlton County residents with the opportunity to benefit from this technology. Our firehalls, emergency medical services and ambulances are struggling for funding and enough trained staff. The cost of a new ambulance is nearly $400,000. Carlton County has set aside $15,000 a year for the purchase of new ambulances. I believe we should do more. Lobbying our local officials and legislators for help with assistance from the federal government is critical. We should honor our EMS workers by doing more to support them. The lives of our people deserve that effort. Change comes in each of our lives. The world of my childhood was wonderful but now is gone. This new journey we take is full of opportunities and choices. I would like to help make positive choices as your county commissioner. Again, I ask for your support as the November 5 General Election approaches. Dan Reed Paid for by Dan Reed, 6974 Reed Lane, Kettle River MN 55757, on his own behalf.
